About our immigration DNA test
People having relatives living in another country in which they are not natives or citizens of that country may wish to join their relatives there. In such cases you may be required to provide an immigration DNA test (under some instances referred to as a naturalization test or an American citizenship test) to prove and establish to the relevant authorities that there is a close biological relationship between the alleged relatives.
Immigration testing may be recommended to you by a Consular Officer who may suggest a DNA test to ease a visa application. Immigration testing is not obligatory and relatives may opt not to have proof of relationship by DNA testing. However, if other documentation does not provide adequate proof, the immigration/ citizenship/ residency request may be turned down. The petitioner, the person who submits the request to United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The petitioner can have their DNA samples collected by a sampler such as a doctor or nurse. For relatives living outside the USA, the laboratory will send a kit directly to the American Embassy or consulate. The embassy or consulate will contact the Visa applicant to set an appointment. There will be a small additional fee set by the embassy for the collection of DNA samples by their own sampler.
