Flo Rida (Tramar Dillard) the famous rapper was involved in a paternity clash with Gloria Holloway, who stated that he is certainly her son’s father. At first Flo Rida denied this accusation and in fact his attorney told TMZ (magazine) that he had actually taken a paternity test which ruled him out. Only problem was that he used a pseudonym to protect his identity.

Too late?

Legal documents were filed by the Florida Department of Revenue that related to Gloria’s claim for child support. These documents had already established the paternity, as a request for child support is only made if the paternity is not disputed, and this was not – making it quite clear that Flo Rida has truly accepted the child to be his.

Now the Revenue Department wants the rapper to supply them with information about his financial income, to work out just how much he has to pay in arrears and for future payments.

With all this going on, the famous rapper is quite adamant about not being the father of Gloria’s toddler and in fact his legal team have actually confirmed this.

A paternity test can definitely determine whether or not a particular man is the biological father of a particular child and it involves examining the DNA of tiny amounts of bodily fluid or tissue from a child and the supposed father – you see when a baby is conceived the parents pass on half of their genes contained in 23 chromosomes to the baby, whose genetic code (46 chromosomes) is a mix of only the mother’s and the father’s DNA. Collecting a small sample of DNA from the baby and the supposed father, this test will confirm either way – for an absolute complete DNA picture the mother’s DNA would also be collected and tested, although this isn’t really needed to confirm or disprove the father’s identity. DNA is in most of our body’s cells and tiny amounts of fluid for this test can be collected by using simple swabs, from several sources – the most common being from the inside of the cheek. This is the most accurate testing method available and is 99.9% accurate if the test is positive and 100% accurate if negative. Results of a buccal cell DNA paternity testing are available within 5 to 10 day.

Flo Rida was born on the 16 December, 1979 in Carol City , Florida (hence the name) and when he was just a teenager he performed with a hip-hop collective 2 Live Crew – Jodeci De Vante (an American band whose works consist of R&B and soul music). Flo Rida’s talents were soon noticed but none of the major label companies were willing to offer recording contracts, so Flo Rida enrolled with the University of Nevada, (then Las Vegas and Barry University). Eventually Poe Boy Entertainment called the rapper asking that he sign a deal with them – this was during 2007 and it was at this time that he started associating himself with Floridian rappers such as Rick Ross, Trick Daddy and Trina. His debut single, which was a promotional release, featured Rick Ross and was called ‘Birthday’ – but his first widespread release was the track ‘Bitch, I’m From Dade County’ and since then he hasn’t looked back.
